Commissions and collaborations are welcome.
I love hearing about and working on a variety of different projects.
I create work for private collectors and individuals as well as those commissioning art on behalf of clients; art consultants, stylists, and interior designers. Below is an indication of the process.
Look forward to hearing from you via claire@claireknill.com for all enquiries.
Defining The Brief
We begin by discussing images of previous work to determine preferences suitable for the space you are considering. We touch on materials, color palettes, ambiance, flow, and budget consideration. Practical details of the space, such as width, depth, and length, are essential. Images and video are also helpful to help me understand the space. For larger pieces or in the instance that the hanging location is undecided, a site visit can be arranged to discuss installation, dimensions, and suitability of the space.
Concept
I develop and propose a concept for the piece, considering its overall shape, dimensions, hanging dynamics, and environmental factors within the space. This includes positioning, air currents, lighting, shadows, and materials. A written description of the proposal, complemented by visuals from previous work, will be provided. While I typically create in an organic manner, specific visuals for commercial/client projects can be discussed if necessary.
Creating the Work
With an agreed direction and budget, a timeframe for completion is established (usually a two-month lead time, varying based on scale). A 50% deposit is required to secure the commission. Work on the mobile begins, and feedback opportunities are provided before finalizing the balance points. Once fixed, no further structural changes can be made.

Work Delivery
The final payment deposit is requested upon completion. Depending on the scale and location, I am available for on-site delivery and installation if required.
