EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS

NOVEMBER 6TH - 17TH ( EXCLUDING SUNDAYS)
Movement and Stillness is a self-initiated residency and exhibition that explores the relationship between movement and stillness — a balance that shapes both the natural world and human experience. Inspired by ancient philosophies and embodied practices that bring together body, breath, awareness, and energy, the project reflects on how motion and rest exist side by side, how one gives rise to the other, and how balance is maintained through their connection.
At the heart of the exhibition is a large-scale mobile installation. Suspended in space, its delicate balance relies on carefully placed points that hold the structure in constant, gentle motion. Visitors are invited to sit or lie beneath the work, to rest in the space, and to notice the quiet rhythm between activity and stillness. The piece suggests that inner calm and outward movement can exist together — each shaping and reflecting the other.
Over the course of the project, a series of participatory sessions expands on the theme through different practices. Guest artists and practitioners will lead experiences in yoga, sound, and embodied mark-making, offering visitors the chance to explore movement and stillness through the body, sound, and gesture.
Bringing together visual art, somatic practice, and reflective participation, Movement and Stillness invites visitors to think about movement and stillness in a new way — not as separate modes of being, but as a combined dynamic state where stability, focus, and presence can naturally emerge.

An huge thank you to Ochre House who have kindly sponsored Movement and Stillness with the loan of yoga mats to hold our bodies while we rest. I am lucky to have Ochre House just over the road from my studio where I practice yoga with Nikki. Walking into the space gives an instant feeling of calm. The work they do there is vital and wonderful. Thanks again Sam.
